This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Agnes was born Agnes DiGiacomo on August 23, 1934 in Tuckahoe, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1955 and received the habit on June 12, 1956 when she was given the religious name, Sister Charles Elizabeth. (She began using the name, Sister Agnes, after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 13, 1957 and final vows on August 20, 1960. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Sacred Heart, Camden, NJ, 1958-1962; Sts. John and Paul, Larchmont, NY, 1962-1965; St. Patrick, Newburgh, NY, 1965-1968; San Jose, Bayamon, Puerto Rico, 1968-1974; St. Paul, Jersey City, NJ, 1974-1975, Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1975-1977; Christ the King, Yonkers, Principal, 1977-1982; and St. Gabriel High School, New Rochelle, NY, 1982-2002, 2003-2005. Sister Agnes earned her BS in Education and MA in History, from Villanova University, Villanova, PA. Sister was in the infirmary at the Newburgh Center of Hope, 2005-2007. She died December 9, 2007.
