This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Raphael was born Constance Desrosiers on April 29, 1922 in Worcester, MA. She entered the Fall River Congregation on December 7, 1940 and received the habit on August 19, 1941 when she received the religious name, Sister Marie Claire. (She began using the name, Sister Raphael after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on August 20, 1943 and final vows on August 3, 1946. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Ann, Fall River, MA, 1942-1948, 1953-1954, 1961-1972; St. Augustine, Peru, NY, 1948-1950; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA, 1950-1951, 1956-1958; and St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1958-1961. She also served as sacristan for St. Anne Parish, Fall River, MA, 1972-1973, 1990-1995. Sister Raphael earned a BA in Education from Providence College. She died March 17, 2003.
