This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Flora was born Flora Desorcy on June 26, 1919 in Sherbroke, Quebec, Canada. She entered the Fall River Congregation on September 4, 1939 and received the habit on March 6, 1940 when she received the religious name, Sister Flora Aimee. (She began using the name, Sister Flora after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1941 and final vows on March 7, 1944. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Anne, Fall River, MA; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA; and Plattsburgh, NY. She also served at St. Rose Convent and in retirement resided in Fairhaven where she engaged volunteer ministry. She died January 25, 2009.
