This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Cecile was born Cecile Desorcy on January 27, 1918 in Sherbroke, Quebec, Canada. She entered the Fall River Congregation on December 7, 1934 and received the habit on August 19, 1935 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Blanche. (She began using the name, Sister Cecile after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on March 7, 1937 and final vows on December 8, 1940. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, was in charge of boarders, 1938-1955, part time, 1987-1992; St. John's Nursery, Fall River, MA, 1955-1958; and St. Anne, Fall River, MA, 1958-1975. She died December 20, 1999.
