This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Martin was born Marcia Delahanty on February 4, 1934 in Fall River, MA. She entered the Fall River Congregation on September 2, 1956 and received the habit on August 22, 1957 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Martin. She pronounced first vows on August 22, 1959 and final vows on August 22, 1962. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Dominican Academy, Fall River, MA, 1957-1960; Saint Bernadette, New Haven, CT, where she was both teacher and principal, 1960-1974; Saint Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA, 1979-1989. She was principal at St. Mary/Sacred Heart School in North Attleboro, MA, 1989-1991 and at Northwest Catholic School in Pascoag, RI, 1991-1994. Sister was administrator of the motherhouse in Fall River for one year, 1993-1994 before moving to St. Cecilia School in Pawtucket, RI. Sister Mary Martin earned her BA in English and Art from Southern Connecticut State College and Providence College. Providence, RI.
