This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary Paul was born Patricia Debbie on July 9, 1928 in Long Island, NY. She entered the Ossining Congregation on July 8, 1948 and received the habit on March 30, 1949 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Paul. She pronounced first vows on March 31, 1950 and final vows on March 31, 1953. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Health Care Agencies: Bronx, NY, 1948-1949; Ossining, NY, 1949-1952, 1965-1967; Denver, CO, 1955-1964; Dayton, OH, 1964-1965; Hampton Bays, NY, 1967-1983; and Newburgh, NY, Soup Kitchen, 1983-1985. She also served in Pastoral Care at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Bronx, NY, 1987-1989, and as a volunteer at Sky View Nursing Home, Croton, NY in 1994. Sister moved to the Newburgh Center of Hope in 1999. She died December 11, 2003.
