This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Bernadette was born Rose Ellen Curristan on January 19, 1912 in Ireland. She entered the Ossining Congregation on April 5, 1945 and received the habit on December 8, 1945 when she received the religious name, Sister Bernadette. She pronounced first vows on December 9, 1946 and final vows on December 9, 1949. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Health Care Agencies: Cincinnati, OH, 1947-1950; New York, NY, 1950-1952, 1954-1955, 1960-1964; Dayton, OH, 1952-1954; Springfield, OH, 1955-1957; Minneapolis, MN, 1957-1960; and Ossining, NY, 1968-1992. She Also ministered as sacristan and in the Finance Office in Ossining, NY. In 1999 she moved to Siena Hall in the Newburgh Center of Hope. She died June 5, 2002.
