This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Agnes William was born Rita Croneiser on April 19, 1931 in Port Leyden, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1949 and received the habit on June 16, 1950 when she was given the religious name, Sister Agnes William. She pronounced first vows on June 18, 1951 and final vows on August 24, 1954. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Annunciation, Crestwood, NY, 1952-1960; Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, NY, 1960-1971; Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1971-1973; and Assumption, Fairfield, CT, 1974-1976. She was teacher and vice-principal at St. Thomas of Canterbury School in Cornwall-on-Hudson NY, 1976-1999. In 1992, Sister Agnes William was listed in the “Who’s Who Among America's Teachers.” Sister Agnes William earned her BS in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University, and her MA in Administration from Fairfield University. In 1966, Sister was awarded an Archbishop Spellman Scholarship to the University of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Sister also served as transportation coordinator at the Newburgh Center of Hope after 1999. She died July 6, 2012.
