This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Delphine was born Delphine Croft on January 1, 1932 in Jersey City, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1954 and received the habit on June 13, 1955 when she was given the religious name, Sister Marie Michael. (She began using the name, Sister Delphine after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 18, 1956 and final vows on August 21, 1959. During her years in the congregation she served in the following... schools: St. Joseph Elementary, Toms River, NJ, 1956-1958; St. Rose, Haddon Heights, NJ, 1958-1961; and St. Mary, Gloucester, NJ, 1961-1968. She was principal at St. Patrick School in Woodbury, NJ, 1968-1971; Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, NY, 1971-1972; and St. Cecilia, Iselin, NJ, 1972-1980. She was director of religious education at Holy Trinity Parish in Passaic, NJ, 1981-1998. Following a sabbatical, she became associate director for parish catechetics with the Archdiocesan Catechetical Office in Newark, NJ, 1999-2000. Sister moved to Asbury Towers, Asbury, NJ. where she volunteers in the Chorus and leads a small Bible Study Group. She died Jan 21, 2022 in Hackensack Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove, NJ. She was 90 years of age.
