This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Cecilia was born Patricia Crittenden on March 15, 1931 in Elizabeth, NJ She entered the Hawthorne Dominican sisters in October, 1952. on March 25, 1937. There is no recorded date for reception of the habit but she received the religious name, Sister Mary Cecilia. She pronounced first vows on September 14, 1954 and final vows in December 1941. During her years in the Hawthorne congregation she served in: Rosary Hill Home, Hawthorn, NY, 1952-1957, 1966-1976; and St. Rose's Home, Manhattan, 1957-1966, 1976-1982. Sister also served as a General Councilor on the Leadership Team, 1973-1977. She transferred to the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor, Ossining, NY in 1982 and served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Hampton Bays, NY, 1982-1987. Sister ministered in Belize, Central America at the Mercy Clinic in Belize City1987-1989 and then became a manager and care giver at The Rainbow Home Hospice, Wernersville, PA, 1990-1995. She was a member of the first Leadership Team for the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1995-2003. After completing a sabbatical she served as a coordinator of pastoral care , Hampton Bays, NY. She died August 17, 2006.
