Biographical / Historical
Sister Arleen was born Arleen Crimmins on December 1, 1938 in Jersey City, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1960 and received the habit on June 7, 1961 when she was given the religious name, Sister Agnes Timothy. (She began using the name, Sister Arleen after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 20, 1962 and final vows on March 24, 1968. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Bishop Dunn Memorial School, Newburgh, NY,1960-1961; St. Cecilia, Iselin, NJ. 1962-1966; St. Joan of Arc, Camden, NJ, 1966-1970; and at Saint Mary, Passaic, NJ, 1970-1972. She worked for the Paterson Diocesan Office, 1972-1977) and as pastoral associate at St. Joseph Church, Bogota, NJ, 1977-1988). Sister Arleen was assistant for retirement for the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, NY, 1983-1988. Following a sabbatical she was resident coordinator at Boston College, 1989-1990. Sister was pastoral associate at Saint Michael Parish in Cranford, NJ, 1990-2002; pastoral associate at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Newark, NJ. Sister Arleen earned her BA in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University and Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh NY.
