This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Mary Ann was born Mary Ann Clausson on July 21, 1947 in Paterson, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on August 8, 1968 and received the habit on January 24, 1970 when she was given the religious name, Sister Mary Bernadette.(She began using the name, Sister Mary Ann after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on May 2, 1971 and final vows on September 28, 1975. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Saint Therese School, Succasunna, NJ, 1972-1973; and Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY, 1973-1986. She was director of religious education at Saint Bartholomew’s Parish in Yonkers, NY, 1986-1994 . She was a physical therapist assistant at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, 2000-2004 and at The Children’s Annex in Kingston, NY, 2004-2007. Upon completing a sabbatical, she spent a year in the Dominican Monastery in Prouilhe, France. Sister volunteered in the Archives of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Ossining, NY, 2010-2012 and then began working there as a consultant and clerical assistant. Sister was Director of New Membership, and Director of the Associates, 2012-2116. Sister Mary Ann earned her BA in History from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh NY and her MS in Religion and Religious Education from Fordham University, Bronx, NY. She also earned her certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Orange County Community College.
