This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Dolorata was born Concetta Cappiello on November 11, 1908 in New Haven, Ct. She entered the Ossining Congregation on March 25, 1937 and received the habit on December 8, 1937 when she received the religious name, Sister Dolorata. She pronounced first vows on December 13, 1938 and final vows on December 13, 1941. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: 210th St., Bronx, NY, 1942, 1962-1967; Minneapolis, MN, 1942-1947; Denver, CO, 1957-1959; 84th St., New York, NY, 1959; and Rochambeau Ave., Bronx, NY, 1967-1979. Sister continued visiting the sick and helping with cancelled stamps, Ossining, NY, 1979-2000. She moved to residential care, Newburgh, NY in 2000. She died March 3, 2009.
