This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Agnes was born Agnes Boyle on September 22, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. She entered the Newburgh Congregation September 8, 1951 and received the habit on June 15, 1962 when she received the religious name, Sister Mary Charles. (She began using the name, Sister Agnes after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 17, 1953 and final vows on August 21, 1956. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1951-1952, and as principal, 1969-1974; Nativity School, Bronx, NY, 1953-1963. She was professor and chair of the Department of Education at Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, 1963-1974. Sister was Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Mt. St. Mary College, 1974-2004. She was Academic Dean at Mt. St. Mary College, 1979-2004. In 2004, following a sabbatical she began researching Mount Saint Mary College history. Sister Agnes earned her BS in Elementary Education from Glassboro State College, NJ; her MS in Educational Psychology and her PhD in Elementary Curriculum, both from Fordham. Sister moved to St. Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell, NJ.
