This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Grace Imelda was born Grace Evelyn Blanchard on June 26, 1914 in Bridgeport, CT. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 8, 1957 and received the habit on June 11, 1958 when she was given the religious name, Sister Grace Imelda. She pronounced first vows on June 17, 1959 and final vows on August 21, 1962. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, NY, 1959, 1967-1968; Mt. St. Mary Academy, Newburgh, NY, 1961, 1963-1966; Immaculate H.S., Danbury, CT, 1966-1967; Mt. St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, 1968-1977, 1978-1995. St. Grace Imelda earned degrees in: BA in English, Albertus Magnus; MA, NY University, NY; and Ed.D in Direction and Supervision in Secondary Education, NY University, NY. She died July 21, 1995.
