This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Marguerite was born Marguerite Betson on July 6, 1907 in St. David, IL. She entered the Ossining Congregation on December 7, 1936 and received the habit on March 13, 1937 when she received the religious name, Sister Marguerite. She pronounced first vows on June 14, 1938 and final vows on June 13,1941. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Bronx, NY, 1939-1942-1961-1963; Columbus OH, 1945-1951, 1957-1960; Detroit, MI, 1951-1952; New York, NY, 1952-1954; Denver, CO, 1954-1955; 61 St., NY, 1955-1957; Cincinnati, OH, 1960-1961; Bronx, NY, 1961-1963, 1964-1969; Minneapolis, MN, 1963-1964; Rochambeau Ave., Bronx, NY, 1969-1972; Hospital and Home Visitations, Bronx/Westchester, NY 1972-1982; and Maryknoll Sisters Nursing Home, Ossining, NY, Volunteer, 1983-1986. Sister earned an RN. She died May 28, 2000.
