This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Ann Daniel was born Margaret Belmonte on August 31, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She entered the Newburgh Congregation on September 4, 1962 and received the habit on June 19, 1963 when she was given the religious name, Sister Ann Daniel. She pronounced first vows on June 22, 1964 and final vows on October 11, 1969. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Bishop Dunn Memorial, Newburgh, NY, 1965-1968, 1972-1973; St. Augustine, Larchmont, NY, 1968-1972; Saint Ursula, Mount Vernon, NY, 1973-1977; and Saint Mary, Poughkeepsie, NY, 1977-1979. Sister worked in parish ministry at Sacred Heart Church in Princeton, WV, 1979-1982. She was pastoral associate at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waynesboro, VA, 1982-1993; St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richmond, VA, 1993-1998; and St. Ann Catholic Church, Colonial Heights, VA, 1998-? Sister Ann Daniel earned her BA in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY; her MA in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College in New York City; and her MS in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA.
