This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Ann Louise was born Elizabeth Beerhalter on February 4, 1923 in Munnesville, NY. She entered the Ossining Congregation on January 15, 1945 and received the habit on June 23, 1945 when she received the religious name, Sister Ann Louise. She pronounced first vows on June 24, 1946 and final vows on June 24, 1949. During her years in the congregation she served in the following Dominican Sisters Home Health Care Agencies: Ossining, NY, 1945-1947; Minneapolis MN, 1947-1948; Springfield, OH, 1948-1949, 1958-1962; Columbus, OH, 1952-1954, 1966-1968; Calvary Hospital, New York City, 1955-1958, 1962-1964; Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor, New York City, 1964-1966, 1968-1972, 1976-1978. In 1978, Sister Ann Louise retired from her nursing ministry and volunteered her services as Eucharistic Minister at St. Augustine’s Church in Ossining and as sacristan for the Dominican Sisters Chapel in Ossining, NY. Sister Ann Louise earned an RN from Saint Catherine’s Hospital and a BS in Nursing from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH. She died February 27, 2014.
