This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Jean Rosaire was born Rita Bedotto on June 3, 1928 in Paterson, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation September 8, 1946 and received the habit on June 25, 1947 when she received the religious name, Sister Jean Rosaire. She pronounced first vows on June 26, 1948 and final vows on August 27, 1951. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Saint Patrick, Woodbury, NJ, 1948-1957; Nativity, Bronx , NY, 1957-1961; and Saint Patrick, Newburgh, NY, where she was also principal, 1961-1964. She worked at the Office of Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New York, 1964-1972 where she was reading consultant and language arts coordinator. Sister was an education professor at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, 1972-? Sister Jean Rosaire earned PhD in Educational Psychology from New York University. She was a certified teacher of Tai Chi Chih. She died May 23, 2014.
