This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Lorraine was born Lorraine Beauchesne on August 17, 1938 in Fall River, MA. She entered the Fall River Congregation on February 18, 1956 and received the habit on August 22, 1956 when she received the religious name, Sister Claire Marie. (She began using the name, Sister Lorraine after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on August 22, 1958 and final vows on August 22, 1961. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Saint Anne, Fall River, MA, 1957-1962, 1966-1977; and Saint Augustine, Peru, NY, 1962-1966. She has served as parish secretary and bookkeeper for Saint Anne’s Parish, Fall River, MA, 1977-? Sister Lorraine earned a BA in Education from Providence College, Providence, RI.
