This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Beatrice was born Beatrice Barrette on August 10, 1905 in Fall River, MA. She entered the Fall River Congregation on August 3, 1926 and received the habit on July 26, 1927 when she received the religious name, Sister Beatrice. She pronounced first vows on August 4, 1928 and final vows on August 4, 1932. During her years in the congregation she served in the capacity of domestic duties in the following convents: St. Catherine Motherhouse, Fall River, MA, 1926-1928, 1932-1947, 1949-1954, 1956-1963, 1971-1995; St. Francis Xavier, Acushnet, MA, 1928-1932, 1965-1971; St. Peter, Plattsburgh, NY, 1947-1949, 1954-1956; and Novitiate at North Dartmouth, MA, 1963-1965. Sister moved to the Center of Hope, Newburgh, NY. She died October 30, 1996
