This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister June was born June Baker on March 20, 1936 in Plattsburgh, NY. She entered the Fall River Congregation on September 1, 1954 and received the habit on August 28, 1955 when she received the religious name, Sister Regina Marie. (She began using the name, Sister June after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on August 22, 1957 and final vows on August 22, 1960. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: St. Peter’s, Plattsburgh, NY; Dominican Academy and St. Anne’s, Fall River, MA; and St. Bernadette, New Haven, CT. In 1980, after completing a CPE Program at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, CT, Sister June accepted the role of certified chaplain in the pastoral care department at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY, where she remained until 1998. She ministered as a spiritual counselor for A Peaceful Place Wellness Center in Clifton Park, NY. She was Coordinator of Nazareth Community at the Center of Hope in Newburgh, NY, 2002-2004. Since 2007, Sister June has worked part-time as a volunteer at St. Luke’s/Cornwall Hospital. Sister June earned her BA in History from the College of the Sacred Hearts in Fall River, MA, and her MA in Theology from St. Bernard’s Institute in Rochester, NY. She received Aromatherapy Certification with R.J. Buckle, Llc., and received Reiki Master Teacher certification through the Center for Reiki Training, Smithfield, Michigan.
