This collection contains records from all the sisters who make up the DSOH. It includes their personal papers, publications, artistic work, photographs, diplomas, ministry history etc. The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995. The group includes members of the former Newburgh Domincan, Fall River Dominican and Ossining Dominican Communities. The sisters work and minister in various ways including community organizing, social work, education, environmental advocacy, and retreat ministry.

Biographical / Historical
Sister Margaret was born Margaret Anderson on June 20, 1944 Elizabeth, NJ. She entered the Newburgh Congregation September 4, 1962 and received the habit on June 19, 1963 when she received the religious name, Sister Rosarita. (She began using the name, Sister Margaret after Vatican II). She pronounced first vows on June 22, 1964 and final vows on October 25, 1969. During her years in the congregation she served in the following schools: Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon NY, 1966-1970; St. Patrick, Newburgh NY, 1970-1972; and Guardian Angel, New York, NY, 1972-1978. She was principal of: St. Anthony, Hawthorne, NJ, 1978-1986; at St. Barnabas, Bronx, NY, 1986-1989; and Ascension, New York, NY, 1989-1990. Sister was a social worker with ADAPP in New York, NY,1991-1999. Sister was a member of the leadership team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 1999-2003. She became director of guidance at the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains NY, 2005-2014. She has been a member of the leadership team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope since 2014. Sister Margaret earned the following degrees: BA in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY; MA in Elementary Education from Jersey City State College; and her MSW from Fordham University. Sister was elected to the Leadership Team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope in 2013.
